I want to import the HTML into askSam 5 for indexing & linking to the HTML file. But askSam gives a file in use by another program message and will not import.

The problem is not Click to Convert but the askSame database. When opening HTML files into the askSam database, you need to make sure the HTML files have the file extension "htm" instead of Click to Convert's default of "html".
You can easily change the file extension when publishing your files to HTML from within Click to Convert's Publish Settings window:
1. Select the HTML options->Output item in the tree.
2. Change the file extension used from "html" to "htm".
